Boston is great! We've been exploring the city by foot and poking our heads into cool shops along the way. We had some reservation complications with the hostel, but now we are all set and settled in a new, cozy place. We shopped and ate clam chowder in a bread bowl at Quincy Market, saw Fanuiel Hall, and got a ton of FREE give away samples of cereal, Nantucket Nectar, Starbucks iced coffee, and Aquafresh toothpastes. On the night of the fourth, we set up a blanket and staked out our spot next to the Charles River. The firework show was unbelievable! It was synchronized with live music, which was broadcasted over huge speakers. Today was went to the New England Aquarium. It's known for its 4-story tank that you can spiral up. It was full of big fish and little fish and turtles and sharks and sting rays. Lindsay touched a baby shark!!!!!!!! The big turtle liked us, so we got lots of great pictures. Lastly, we watched an awesome 3D IMAX film on underwater symbiosis and food chains - VERY interesting and fun - 3D octopuses and jellies!
Unlike New York, we have had no problems or hassles in our travels about Boston. The city is small enough that, in a pinch, we can walk from our house to the harbor in under 30 minutes. Also, the subway system is cheaper and simpler than NYC's, so traveling by train is less of a headache.
Tomorrow - our last full day in Boston - we will explore the freedom trail, the Boston Common, and we will pick up the last few necessities for our camping trip>
